Two weekends ago, my 2012 Flag team played in and won the RCRC 7-8 year old championship tournament. It was a very full but fun filled day. We had to win 2 games in a winner take all single elimination format and my team was so up to it. All week long we worked them out to fine tune some minor issues I noticed and put in a couple extra trick plays just in case. There were only 4 teams in our division and we played numerous times over the season so in the end we faced two very tough teams that were well prepared for my aerial attack. My team seemed ready for the task and I could see that they understood what we were trying to accomplish. After round one we ended up facing the only team that had beat us this year and I was afraid that they would not be mentally up for it. They proved me wrong and hung tough the whole time. In the end we won the championship and lived up to all the goals that we set for the year EXCEPT for that elusive “undefeated” season that I want so bad. But oh well, I’ll take the championship. Below are some photos of the team and my son holding his 5th championship trophy. I’m very proud of this team and their dedication to each other and our team concept, “One Team, One Goal”.
